Terms of Use

The service

Seript is an app for creating, saving, and reading works in chat and script formats. These terms apply to the current free public release provided by the Seript operator. If the law requires you to obtain consent to use the app, obtain that consent before using it.

Pricing and availability

Creating and saving works on your device and using the six themes—Seript Burgundy, Seript Olive, Notebook, Retro Café, Autumn Maple, and Night Lights—are currently free. Paid Plus is coming soon; the current public release does not accept purchases or charge you. Some features are restricted.

We will announce the terms for future paid features or new themes before sales begin. These terms do not automatically start a paid subscription or recurring charges.

Rights in works and materials

Rights in works you create remain with you or the original rights holders. Using the app does not transfer those rights to us or authorize us to use your works in advertising. You are responsible for checking that you have the necessary rights or permissions for images, text, fonts, and other materials you import.

Rights in the app, distributed themes, and similar materials belong to us or their respective rights holders. You may use them for purposes provided by the app, such as displaying and exporting works. Redistribution of materials and other uses are subject to the included licenses and any separate usage conditions.

Storage and external services

Works are stored on your device. Changes to your browser or URL, deletion of stored data, device failure, or other events may make them inaccessible. Export important works to files as well. We do not provide a service that continuously keeps a copy of your local data.

Cloud sync and file sharing are optional. They may be unavailable depending on a cloud service's terms, storage limits, connection status, or other conditions. Use and redistribution of works you receive must comply with the author's permission and applicable law.

Prohibited conduct

You must not infringe third-party rights, gain unauthorized access, interfere with other users or delivery systems, distribute files containing malware, or otherwise violate the law. This provision is not intended to restrict uses permitted by law or applicable licenses.

Changes, suspension, and liability

We may change or suspend the service to improve features, address security concerns, or respond to failures. Where a material change or closure is planned, we will provide advance notice to the extent reasonably possible. We do not guarantee operation on every device or that data will never be lost.

Our liability is governed by applicable law. These terms do not exclude liability for our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
