User guide
Create a work and continue writing
Choose New work on Home or in Works, set a title, synopsis, and cover, then save. Open the work and create a scene to start writing. Use the work's writing action to continue. You can create and save works on your device without signing in.
Add characters and scenes
Register characters for your work and create a scene for each setting. Characters used across multiple works can be registered as shared characters from Home. When adding characters in the editor, choose who appears in the scene and whether their dialogue is displayed on the left or right.
Switch between chat and script
Choose chat or script in the editor's … menu. Both views edit the same text. Select a character to write dialogue, or select narration to write descriptive text.
Edit text, change speakers, and reorder
Press and hold a text entry, or right-click it, to open its action menu, then choose Edit. For dialogue, you can change both the text and the speaker. Saving applies the changes; cancelling leaves the entry unchanged. To reorder entries, press and hold one, then drag it up or down.
Free themes and fonts
Choose the app theme and bubble theme on the Themes screen. Use the preview before adding a theme. The six current themes are free. Downloading a theme or additional font that is not on your device requires an internet connection. Downloaded data remains available offline. Removing a downloaded theme or font does not delete your text or saved theme and font selections; the app uses the default appearance until you download it again.
Organize notes
Open Notes in the work details to review notes for the work, scenes, and text entries. You can search, filter by type, and sort by story order or update time. Standard text exports do not include author notes.
Back up and restore
Use Backup and restore in Settings to save works, images, notes, characters, and settings to a file. Restored works are added as separate works. Additional font files and theme packages are not included. Keep a copy of the backup somewhere else in case your device fails.
Work files and read-only files
A .seript file contains editable work data. Import it through the .seript import option in Settings to add it as a separate work. TXT, PDF, and image exports are for reading. Open read-only work files received from others through the reading section on Home or the read-only file option in Settings. You can choose to download a theme specified by the work. Check the confirmation screen and file contents before sharing. Font files are not included in work files.
Local storage and cloud sync
In the Web version, storage is separate for each browser and site URL. The local development site and public site also have separate storage. Deleting site data, closing private browsing, device failure, and similar events can cause data loss. If storage is low, check storage usage in Settings, save a backup first, then remove downloaded data you no longer need.
Cloud sync is optional. Select an available service in Cloud sync under Settings and connect it. Works and images are exchanged directly with your own cloud account. Simply opening the app does not automatically back up your works to the operator. Automatic iCloud sync is not available in the current Web version; you can manually save backup files to iCloud Drive.
Plus and support
Paid Plus purchases and free trials have not started yet. Free themes require no purchase. Some advanced editing and export features are restricted. Saved works, formatting, and themes are retained. To report an issue or suggest a feature, open the contact form in Settings. You can copy a draft prepared in Settings and paste it into the form. Drafts are not sent automatically.
